Assisting Oregonians With Physical Disabilities Since 1981
The Foundation maintains a $1500 cap/36-month duration on applications
If the Foundation did not judiciously protect the trust established by Blanche Fischer in the early '80s, there would be no money to fund any of the requests we receive now. This is why there is a $1500 cap on Foundation grants. This cap spans a 36-month period of time. This is why an application may be denied consideration: if you have met the $1500 threshold, it may be some time before you are eligible for consideration again.
It is also why we ask our clients to provide a “co-pay” or “in-kind contribution” to requested funding.
CO-PAY
We request that all applicants "co-pay" their requests. This is to say that at no time and no instance is it a requirement that an applicant sends us money. However, it is recommended that applicants determine how much, if any, money they can pay toward the service or device they are requesting. Because the majority of our applicants have limited personal finances, we recognize this may be an impossible request. The request does not, however, inhibit one's ability to ask others for help. Please thoroughly read through the Resources tab to determine who you might ask for help.
IN-KIND CONTRIBUTIONS
The best example of an in-kind contribution is volunteer help. This is especially true for people who need physical labor performed in order to obtain a necessary service or device. For instance, the true cost of a ramp that cost $500 in materials is easily two-four times that much for the labor to build it, so please do not underestimate the worth of volunteers.

Remember To Pay it Forward
Best described by Benjamin Franklin: “I do not pretend to give such a sum; I only lend it to you.
When you … meet with another honest man in similar distress, you must pay me by lending this sum to him;
enjoining him to discharge the debt by a like operation, when he shall be able, and shall meet with another opportunity.
I hope it may thus go thro’ many hands, before it meets with a knave that will stop its progress.
This is a trick of mine for doing a deal of good with a little money.”
