Assisting Oregonians With Physical Disabilities Since 1981
Our Founder Inspires Us With Her Generosity and Goodwill

Blanche Fischer was a woman of warm words and thoughts. When she first discussed the trust in her name, she told Bill Shepherd, a Portland attorney, that she wanted to help people with physical disabilities. She wanted to do this because one of her favorite people was her mechanic who had one arm. It seems now that she was celebrating the fact that he had overcome a significant obstacle in order to remain independent, productive and proud. Her wish was to designate a portion of her wealth so that other people, up against similar challenges, would gain the same confidence he had.
We like to think that she would be proud that her name is now synonymous with Hope and Help for Oregonians with disabilities.

ABOUT THE BLANCHE FISCHER FOUNDATION
The Blanche Fischer Foundation is a private,
nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded through a trust established by the late Blanche Fischer, a native of Long Creek and long-time resident and benefactor of Lincoln City. The Foundation makes direct grants on behalf of Oregonians with physical disabilities. The aid may relate directly to the disability or toward fostering personal independence. |
To be considered for a BFF grant, an individual
must demonstrate all of the following: 1. Demonstrate Oregon residency, 2. Demonstrate financial need and 3. Have a disability of a physical nature. If you do not meet all of the above criteria, you are not eligible for Foundation assistance. Since its founding in 1981, the Blanche Fischer Foundation has awarded over 1.5 million dollars to thousands of Oregonians with physical disabilities. |
