What You Need to Know When Applying for Grant Funds

WHO MAY APPLY
To be eligible for a grant from the Blanche Fischer Foundation, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Permanent Physical Disability: The applicant must have a documented permanent physical disability.
Demonstrable Financial Need: Our process carefully assesses an individual's position within the Federal Poverty Level, ensuring that our assistance is directed to those facing genuine economic challenges. By aligning with this indicator, we aim to make a meaningful and positive impact on addressing authentic economic hardships.
Current Oregon Residency: Applicants must be current residents of Oregon. Proof of residency may be requested.
Clear Relationship in Grant Request to Physical Disability or Independence: Grant requests must explicitly establish a direct connection between the funding sought and the applicant's physical disability or the promotion of independence. A transparent and compelling explanation of this relationship strengthens the application.

WHAT WE DO NOT FUND
We do not provide funding for the following:

Housing Expenses: This includes rent and mortgage costs.
Daily Living Expenses: We do not fund daily living expenses such as food and utilities.
Entertainment Expenses: Funding is not allocated for entertainment-related expenditures.
Loan or Credit Card Payments: Payments on existing loans or credit cards are not covered.
Startup Expenses for a Business: Funding is not provided for the initiation of new business ventures.
Payments on Previously Purchased Items or Services: We do not cover costs associated with previously acquired items or services.
Training of Service Dogs: Expenses related to the training of service dogs are not funded.
Medical or Dental Expenses: We do not provide financial assistance for medical or dental costs.
Moving Expenses: Costs associated with moving residences are not covered.
Purchase of a Car or Van: Funding is not allocated for the acquisition of vehicles.
Services Requiring a Subscription: Expenses related to services requiring a subscription are not within the scope of our funding.
Emergency situations: We are unable to provide funds in emergency situations.

Year-Round Application Acceptance: We accept applications throughout the year. Keep in mind that submitting your application does not guarantee approval, as each request undergoes thorough evaluation.

Quarterly Review and Award Cycle: Our grant review process operates on a quarterly basis. Applications are carefully examined, and awards are determined periodically throughout the year.
Direct Payment to Vendors or Service Providers: Approved funds are disbursed directly to vendors or service providers, not to the applicants. This streamlined approach ensures that the assistance reaches the intended recipients efficiently.
Application Submission by Regular Mail: Applications must be sent via regular mail. Express mail services do not expedite the grant process, so utilizing regular mail helps facilitate the handling and processing of your application effectively.
