Blanche Fischer born in Long Creek, Oregon
After retiring to the Lincoln City, she found that the local library had outgrown its tiny
storefront. She funded the purchase of land and the building for the new library, the Driftwood Library, which eventually outgrew its quarters and finally moved, in 1994, to its present site on Hwy. 101. The proceeds from the sale of the former site continue to benefit the library through the Driftwood Library Foundation. Blanche's greatest love, however, was her art. A sampling of her paintings, along with personal memorabilla, are on permanent display in the Fischer Room at the library. Her paintings are also on display at the Foundation office in Portland and at the Lincoln City Historical Society. RETURN TO 2011 ANNUAL REPORT PAGE |
