![]() In 1999, the Blanche Fischer Foundation began funding a grab-bar
project sponsored by the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in Lincoln
City. The purpose of the grant was to install grab bars in the homes of senior
citizens, enabling them to remain in their homes and familiar neighborhoods.

RSVP in Lincoln County: Helping Houses Remain HomesAt left is a picture of Pat Chambers and the grab bar that was placed in her home by an RSVP volunteer. Pat lives in the Taft area of Lincoln City and was very pleased with the placement of the bar. The volunteer we use is a skilled handyman who enjoys doing this kind of work, but if he's not available for a project, we hire a paid handyman who also does a good job. The Lincoln Country RSVP program has remained busy with grab bars and clamps, and recently we were able to lend an individual a lightweight wheelchair that had been donated to our program because of our Blanche Fischer grant.
